Yeah I understand, in the past my wife had to wait outside when I entered to get documents. That place is all seriousness. I understand what Wylie Pfat did.
exactly reading the comments yikes. I am a divorced dad and travel with my kids outside the USA and I want to be questioned and show the proper document. Scary people want to get on planes without the proper document with children.
It is perhaps similar to the USA. I am divorced. For me to take the kids outside the USA I need a notorized consent letter. It’s a form you can get by googling it. I need to notify my ex of the travel plans. For safe measure I even wrote in the custody agreement the children can travel with me outside the USA that the judge signed it. At the airport I showed the notorized letter from the mother and no problems.
Jason Guitard no problem. just trying to help as ouch it sucked doing it on my own. I also will be applying for a one year visa soon so smart to get this stuff done.
I tried several Bangkok banks on my own. You Will get rejected or they may try to get you to buy an insurance policy for 5900 or 2000 baht for an embassy letter. The headache, the stress and cost worth it? Not to mention the taxi rides trying to do it on your own. The cost adds up. I ended up contacting
Lots of misinformation in this thread. 1. International driver licenses issued in Thailand are illegal. 2. A permit from own country is valid for up to a year. 3. Easy to get a Thai driver license even on a tourist visa with a residency certificate, medical certificate, a driver license from your own country. Make an appointment with transportation office in your province you got the residency certificate.
if you got a permit from AAA it’s valid and yes need it to drive in Thailand if you don’t have a Thai license. The international driver licenses sold in Thailand is not legal.
