I'm going to apply for a new US passport soon, but is there a way I can check where it has been?

** I don't have my passport with me. It's with my travel agent. It's been too long. I'm going to get a new one.

I would think that if you report that the passport has been stolen then it would no longer be valid. Once you apply for a new passport, to replace a stolen one, then the old one doesn’t matter even if you got it back.

I recently got a new US passport in 4 weeks.

The answer you are looking for, is no. Other than the stamps in the passport stamps no one will check. However it is possible to check but unless your a terrorist that will not happen.

Let me be more specific. My agent hasn't given me back my passport after a long time. I'm going to file a police report and get a new passport. I want to know if she's been using my passport for her travel business. I don't have my passport with me.

 the only immigration that keeps your passport is Jomtien. And they make all their own rules and are the least user friendly office in Thailand.

Apply at the authorities, and not in a back alley or any other “secret” places.

Then you get a pristine Passport, that haven’t gone anywhere before, but will follow you for many years.

Right you have to take photos of every single page, and get them printed in colour so you have plenty of prove in case of any thing going wrong before you send it back to the usa

That's what we have to do for the uk passport renewal

I would reword what you are asking? To renew a USA passport in Thailand the website says 5-6 weeks. Recently a woman got her passport back in 17 days and another man took 8 weeks. So plan well.

Check where what has been? Open your passport and look at the stamps and you can see where it has been.
