last year i stayed on visa exempt more then 180 days and nobody taxed me for anything, and i have bkk bank account transferring money into without issues!

For sure, but still i got rejected on all the non-Sukhumvit branches i went into. So it is worth it to try there with his visa...

Just go to Sukhumvit branches !!!! Bangkok bank asked me just passport validation certificate from the embassy and i opened the account on covid extension, not even visa. However any other branch that is out of that area will reject you. Also once you change your passport you will be able to do so only from the branch you oppened the account , so get one that works until late because mine is until 16:30 haha
