I did it. No problem. They stamp you out and thats it. Was on my workpermit /Visa/extension of stay. The immigration officer still asked me , sir you want re entry permit for your visa. No thank you. Just stamp me out. I returned again a week later and got a normal tourist visa. (Only think I dont know if my employer/agency did any paper afterwards but they were very helpful with everything from the beginning. :-)

Hi
@Michael ***************************
, I am planning to do a visa run to Vientiane next week for a tourist visa. 1st time going there. How easy was it and what documents did they ask for? I am planning to be at the embassy Thursday morning and collect the Friday afternoon. Thanks in advance

That's exactly what I did last month. Its not a 30-day VISA, its a 30 day STAMP you get. The 30 day entry stamp cost you nothing, but the extension will be B1900 when you go to immigration :-) 30 Day stamp + 30 extention gives you 60 days

@Robert ******
no worries. The reason why I have 2 passports is that my new one was not finished before my return flight to Bangkok and my old 1 is still valid for a full year. I didnt collect my new passport it was sent to me from back home which was an effort to authorize that, hence why its not cancelled yet. I just spoke to my embassy here and they said both are valid. They told me as my visa is still in my old one, and its valid, its fine using that and when I have a new visa when I return next week I go to immigration, transfer my new visa to my new passport and then go embassy and cancel my old passport. There is a difference between I dont want to and cant make it as I was advised to only fly out Tuesday without doing any of this. Thanks for the help though :-)

@Robert ******
I applied for my old passport when I was back home for a quick holiday and it took longer than expected. So I left on my old passport with no problems at all. My passport is only experiencing in 12 months but i will be traveling for a while and some countries/most countries require 6 months for a visa
