just a correction, on reflection after reading some of these comments i realise it may have cost me about 6500THB because I also had to put some money in the 2 accounts not 5500THB as previously mentioned, I didn't pay too much attention as the cost was incidental , Cheers Stu π
Depends whether or not you are vaccinated, it used to be 7 days quarantine if you are vaccinated and 10 days if you aren't, however if you have had Covid and have recovered then a certificate of recovery will set you free.
I was there in February on a tourist Visa ( on holiday ) in Phuket, used an agent , cost me 4000THB for the agent, opened 2 accounts, 1 for personal use and 1 to deposit 800k for retirement Visa, took about 40 minutes, BBK branch, cost me about 5500THB in Bank fees, includes insurance. Hope this helps you make a decision π
they don't have my bank details, I went with the agent, she just organised the bank the appointment and sat behind me and translated anything I didn't understand, I was only holiday on a tourist Visa and had no permanent accommodation , car/bike Licence , etc so it was the only way for me to get a bank account, it ended up being a stress free situation so the cost was incidentalπ
