Well I seem to remember a class in law school that outlined civil actions for defamation and slander which has now risen to the level of “you have offended me”. That was my point about protected class. I don’t really want to get into a legal argument now...that’s why I retired from the practice. Take my post for what it’s worth. I am having too much fun tonight.
So many of our different nations have identically worded constitutions and they read so beautifully. Ours was written by slave owners. Russia’s constitution was copied from ours. In the US, political correctness has created a chilling effect on free speech in both the private sector as well as the public sector. People are fired and demoted for their comments if they are not a member of a “protected class”. That basically refers to a minority, a person of a non-mainstream sexual orientation or someone other than a white male. This originally well intended affirmative action philosophy has basically circumvented the 14th amendment’s equal protection clause. And before you slam me go what I intend to be just an observational, please understand that I have in my mind the many poor white families throughout the US who are suffering so much but do not fall within a “protected class” and therefore do not receive the benefits and protections that they do desperately need. This is just my observation and it makes me so sad.
It’s like we have no choice which country we are born in and that we as individuals really have no choice as to who our so called leaders are, but we do have a choice as to what we think and what we believe in and how we can best make friends from all around the world. We greatly outnumber those that “rule” us. Let’s all just stick together and chill like Ghandi and we will surely survive the insanity my man. That’s what I think !
No problem my man. I hear you. Please forgive our political system and come meet our people and see our country. Let’s keep in touch and I’ll give you some ideas on my favorite places to visit.
