. Really ! I was in Chang Mai & opened a bank account with Bangkok Bank back in August 2022 . I am a US citizen , on a tourist visa . They didn't ask for the notarized document located US Embassy . I was staying in a hotel/condo for 2 - 3 months . I went to Immigration to get the letter of residence and took that to the bank . The lady at Immigration was so nice . She said I could get a letter for my husband since he wasn't there with me and all I needed was a copy of his passport , visa and a picture .

. I went to Bangkok Bank . When you go in there , they will tell you what you need in order to open a bank account . This is how I did it . I made copies of my passport (front page ) visa , one passport picture , copy of rental contract and 500 baht for processing . Wherever you're staying , they automatically notify immigration so you will be in their system . Since you're in Chang Mai , just show up to Immigration by the airport , volunteers there are helpful and they will tell you what forms you need to fill out . Head to the photo/ copy office behind Immigration ( still on the property ) if you need picture taken and next to that office you can get a TM30 ( certificate of residence ) . Gather all your paperwork and go upstairs and the lady ( super nice ) will do the rest . She will ask you how do you want to receive your letter . I said pronto and she said tomorrow it will be ready for pick up for 500 baht ....... My friend got an account with Kasikorn Bank in Chang Mai without going to Immigration to obtain the letter of residence . That's another option .

It's super easy & can be done in 1 day on a tourist visa . I opened one in Chang Mai at Bangkok Bank . 2 of my friends also tourists were successful in acquiring bank accounts at different banks

Cover your okole & have an exit strategy .

It's always wise to have a return flight . We're from the US , first flight to Thailand we had an exit plan than the 2nd flight to Thailand , no exit plan , one way and we flew via Japan Airline . She asked and we said nope , we're moving forward just don't know how or when ?

I bought a SIM card from True Move . I set up an account with Skype and called my bank in the US . I told hubby to cancel cricket in the US and save $110 a month and pay Skype 3.50 a month for unlimited phone call to the US. Hubby doesn't listen but it's ok it's his money 😂

When I learned English , the teacher didn’t speak my language . It doesn’t matter if the teacher speaks Thai , you just need someone to teach her English like you can do it .
