Its always been the rule for visa exempt / tourist - if you are actually asked to show it is another story. I love how it happens to one person and people freak out. Besides why wouldnt someone have cash avaible when traveling anyway
The 20,000 baht requirement isnt for DTV - your DTV has an income/ savings requirement - yes the DTV is a tourist visa but you had to show alot more funds in savings / income in order to get it. The 20,000 baht requirement the exact language reads "avaible cash or other documentation" its aimed at visa exempt users
thai immigration released a statement - it was due to over use of exempt status - the 20,000 baht requirements is for tourist visa - exempt status only - not for Non-o visa holders. - most of them have income verification requirements
nope their rules the law is showing 20,000 baht or other documentation to prove you can afford thailand - this is a tourist visa or exempt thing. I wage to say that having a non-o visa you wont get asked this. Im also willing to bet they asked her to show 20,000 baht due to questionable actions in her passport already - there is nore to this im sure anyway cause the 20,000 baht requirement is a very rare as in this is my 2nd time ive heard of it asked in 4 years
