Hi there, just want to ask a question for those who recently arrived in Thailand. Did immigration officers at airport ask you to show proof of funds in cash?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The majority of users reported that they were not asked to show proof of funds in cash upon arrival in Thailand. However, some mentioned that recent crackdowns might lead to more requests for such proof. It’s advised to carry cash as a precaution since the request can be at the discretion of immigration officers.
thai immigration released a statement - it was due to over use of exempt status - the 20,000 baht requirements is for tourist visa - exempt status only - not for Non-o visa holders. - most of them have income verification requirements
someone in a news article yes. And the unmentioned details is they have spent a lot of time in Thailand this year and were rude to the immigration officer and wouldn't even get off their phone.
But many people are denied entry using this every day that you don't hear about.

If you have a history of using exempt stamps I’d carry the cash it’s really not that much money but if there asking then there looking for a reason to deny you why not get a proper visa or go home for awhile

If they ask you this question, it's because they already want to deny you entry.
But with the crackdown currently going on, it's likely going to get asked to more people than previously.
Who has and has not been asked literally makes no difference for you. If you are asked, you must have it or you will be denied entry. It's as simple as that. Even if 1 million people before you were not asked, you must legally have proof of funds to enter Thailand as a tourist.
