add to that the fact that it’s pretty much double the average income in Bangkok for a Thai. Also this is free money for the Thai Government. It’s not generated in the country so it’s adding wealth. It’s so bizzare that they make it so difficult. Although I do get the local, personal reasons haha

good luck. I’d suggest seeing if you can do the yellow housebook first. When I tried to open an account with both Kasikorn and Siam Bank both wanted yellow book. That was in the Phitsanulok/Phetchabun area. As you’ll get told every place is different. If you’re on a Non O marriage that’s should be easy to get bank account without Yellow book though. In the end I had to go to Krungthai. Some banks will have an issue with your initial visa only being 90 days. As you’ll soon find each branch may interpret the rules differently and ask for extra documentation

If all your ducks are lined up it should only take two days and a lot of patience haha. In nearly all places the staff are very very helpful.

it is in my area. They won’t issue one unless married to Thai. Even though I have long term rental contract for a house. Go figure!!

to get a driving licence is really easy. Once here and registered at your wife’s go to immigration and get a certificate of residence. If you want one for car and motorcycle you’ll need a separate letter for each licence.

You’ll need to do some only driver training online. It’s an hour ,one and very simple. You’ll also need

1. Copy of U.K. licence original and photocopy

2. Passport photograph

3. Medical certificate from local medical centre.

Take all that to the nearest Department of Land Transport (DLT) office. You’ll do a couple of reaction tests. Again very simple. Then hey presto you’ll get your licence.

Super easy. No need to use agents

I think you need to reword your post.

If I’m correct you’re saying that once you’re in Thailand and want an extension of stay on your 90 day visa you need a bank account. BUT many of the banks are saying you must have the extension of stay before you can have a bank account.

Is that what you’re trying to say?

it’s not about that. It’s about demonstrating to the Thai Government that if you fall sick or some other unforeseen event happens to you you’re able to self sustain yourself and not be a burden to the state. The U.K. should absolutely adopt this measure.
