Hi and something slightly different. Does anyone know an agent in Nakon Ratchasima who can process an application for a foreigner to get a Yellow house book in Chackorat. Thanks.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A foreigner looking to obtain a Yellow house book in Chackorat, Nakon Ratchasima may not necessarily need an agent. If the foreigner has a Thai spouse who possesses a housebook in her name, she can assist in the application process to acquire both the Thai ID and Yellow house book.

Its easy enough to do
Paul *******
You do not need an agent. As long as you have a Thai wife and she has a housebook in her name she can assist you to obtain a Thai ID and yellow housebook,

@Paul ******
you left out the most important detail getting passport translated to thai notarized by mfa and sometimes birth certificate as well that's what my amphur has told me to do at mine anyway

@David ********
Having two Thai witnesses is also a requirement at many district offices.
David *********
Yes true mine request same but to travel to bkk get translation mfa stamped I happily just pay 500 for RC if I need 2

@David ********
I did my own translation of my passport, which was accepted by the Amphur. Some years ago though, and sometimes requirements can vary depending on which person at the Amphur you speak to, based on reports

@Mark *******
Which Mickey Mouse district was that if it accepted a translation made by you?
David *********
And no mfa certification I don't believe
Mark ********
@Max ************
Why was it mickey mouse if my translation was correct? πŸ€” I didn't need any witnesses either. I did do my interview with the officer at the Amphur in Thai though, so maybe that helps
Mark ********
@Paul ******
That wouldn't be applicable though to someone who isn't married, or doesn't have a Thai partner
Paul *******
@Mark *******
If not married to a Thai, I doubt that a foreigener can get a housebbok.

@Paul ******
unless they own a condo in which case they can
Steve *******
@Paul ******
just for info. I am not married to a Thai, Never have been and have a yellow housework for my address.
Max *************
@Paul ******
Being married to a Thai has never been a requirement.
Mark ********
@Paul ******
Why would you doubt that? There's no universal requirement to be married in order to qualify to get a yellow book.

@Mark *******
it is in my area. They won’t issue one unless married to Thai. Even though I have long term rental contract for a house. Go figure!!

@Tony ****
There isn't a legal requirement set by the government, but local Amphurs can vary (as clearly they do in your situation) in terms of how they deal with applications . It may well be worth going through an agent in your situation as they can talk directly to the officials directly.

Of what use is a yellow book anyway only for proof of address just pay immigration 500 baht each time for residence certificate that's just me
Mark ********
@David ********
As one example, with a yellow book and pink card you can buy/sell vehicles instantly without having to go to immigration first. It's not a life changer for sure, but it's more than simply a case of having to avoid getting a RC every time you need one (which is only even remotely convenient if you live close to an immigration office in the first place remember)
David *********
As I said yellow book is just a glorified residence certificate if you want to jump through all the hoops translating documents mfa certified to save 500 baht and trip to immigration that's a personal choice
Max *************
@Mark *******
In many provinces the yellow house book and the pink ID-card are totally useless. Just saying.
David *********
100% totally agreed
Mark ********
@Max ************
Such benefits that accrue from the YB/PC are the same throughout Thailand as they're issued centrally (by the Thai government administered through the individual Amphurs)
Max *************
@David ********
I agree, but I'm only paying 300 baht and it just takes 30 min. 😎
Mark ********
@Max ************
Chiang Mai have at various times charged between 500-1000 baht. Seems to vary depending on circumstances 😳
Max *************
@Mark *******
500-1000 baht is if you're correct the most expensive residence certificate I've ever heard of.

500 baht same day 15 minutes wait at my immigration 500 baht next day at cnx immigration
