Hotel name: Grace Hotel, an institution if you are a heterosexual Muslim (I am not both of these)
Middle-Eastern food: not only the hotel but an entire enclave of the north side of the Nana area is full of Gulf state visitors. One such group of hospitable gentlemen invited me into their room to sit on the floor and join them to eat rice and lamb with their hands
Lebanese food: yes, best in Bangkok
Hospitals: doesn't every ASQ hotel have to be affiliated with a hospital. Don't we do the tests there?
I looked into SL, but at least a few months ago it looked rather bureaucratic to enter and it also involved staying a week I believe it was in more expensive than usual hotels.
I am looking for somewhere in Asia as loosey-goosey as Turkey, Ukraine, Serbia and Dubai were in the spring (I was in all four - all easy & fast) But guess what, according Skyscanner's COVID regulation map, there are *zero* countries with no or even low restrictions now.
Curiously, while looking for hotels in Tanzania I observed that Agoda has lower prices for same rooms than Hotels com does. However, it does have a reputation as sometimes being difficult to get refunds from for cancelled reservations, even within limits of reservation. I do not have personal experience, though will soon (aborted Africa trip)
Very helpful, yes. Thing is, if I arrive after midnight the last thing I want is delays getting to bed to recover from jet-lag. Mind you, the advantage of doing a COVID test in the middle of the night means getting away with only one night hotel fee.
Mr. Dawson, I did look at a website 'cheapest ASQ hotels in Thailand'. Although I am using it as a basis for contacting hotels directly, it is out-of-date.
What resources did you use to find budget-friendly ASQ hotels?
Very good point Mr. Bertram. I don't doubt that what you say is true in the EU and Switzerland (where mandatory [?] health insurance already covers most everything. My Zurich associate's COVID travel insurance is $100 for a year while travelling outside of country).
However, in Canada this is not the case. Our provincial insurance covers only $100 per day in-hospital and $50 out-patient, reimbursed. Private companies without monopoly-protection charge much more than those of European countries equivalents.
yes, but what are the odds? Use of 'may have' reminds me of media and law enforcement use of word, for example in this kind of statement: '100 video tapes were found on premises. They may contain...'
Yes, but what is the evidence, the likelihood, and indeed the risk relative to non- enforcement?
BKK arrival. Thank you Mr. Thurkettle for this clarification.
I do find it odd (maybe it is standard, I don't know) by the use of the word 'quarantine'. To me quarantine means isolation of a person who has a communicable disease. We are merely risks thereof, and marginally so (safe country origin of flight, PCR tested, vaccinated). I can think of a more appropriate word, as used in the criminal justice system.
