I know 'next time' a border run is required indeed- he meant the one after that.

I just did mine at Krabi immigration but I definitely had to be persistent. We got there at 8:30am and had it completed by 2pm.

I feel lucky because we dealt with that particular senior officer quite a bit lately (drivers license- buying car etc.) and we have good rapport. However - he said immediately ' why don't you do border run? Do border run - much easier' lol. Easier for who tho? 🄓

I am super organized and had everything- plus some - printed and ready to submit. I own my own business and work fully online so im here on the digital nomad DTV. Proof of funds is definitely a big one - he came back to it numerous times - even tho we could show we have more than the 500k each. It became very clear that they were not knowledgeable at all about the requirements. I'm pretty sure I know more about it. He did send us home to take a picture of us - in front of our house šŸ˜‚ Happy to oblige. We brought that after lunch - listened to him gruntle a bit more but did get our stamps. We kept it light and humorous and overall it was a pleasant experience. But he made it very clear that border run is expected next time. We shall see lol.

I did my application through the Vancouver consulate and they wanted to see 2x 500k. We did have 2 seperate individual bank accounts tho and they did not ask for a sponsorship letter. This was in July 2024.

I applied for mine in Vancouver Canada a few days after it came out and I provided the following: 1) Contract with 1 client that has a clause that I can/will work anywhere in the world 2) Screenshot of my Canada Revenue business account 3) Screenshot of my website 4) Business bank stmt 5) Personal bank stmt showing the required (in Canada) $20,000. I also included a cover letter explaining my business, my monthly income and why we want to stay in Thailand. I got approved within 2 days. Hope this helps - but remember that every embassy/consulate has/makes their own rules :)

I did not call to ask - they usually never answer the phone anyways. The application is very very straightforward , and you can pause and can come back to it anytime before submitting. Not worth the trip to Vancouver I’d say as I’m sure they want you to apply online anyways!?

I applied at the Vancouver consulate and got it approved within 2 days.

Submitted proof of funds, a contract I have with one of my clients and a cover letter explaining what I do for work.
