Maybe it is because one allows you to keep working remotely while in the kingdom - whereas with the soft power options you cannot legally work at all?! The proof for soft power would be your school registration etc.. (maybe even supply attendance records at one point ?!) and the proof for digital workers are contracts etc. Kinda makes sense?! πŸ€” ☺️

extension worked better for us this time round and the money requirement is not an issue - so it was pretty straight forward. All things considered lol πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‚ Our Immigration officer would have also preferred for us to do a border run - but we managed to have a good time with it all anyways . But yes - from what I hear, many people have issues and border runs are suggested. We just seem to get lucky here with many things 😊

we had to! I have the DTV and my husband had to have his own 500,000. We applied in Vancouver and did our first extension in Krabi and he also wanted to see 2 x 500,000.

I included 2 of my contracts i have with my clients that includes a worldwide clause and how much money they pay me every month. I also included a cover letter explaining the nature of my business. Also included screenshots of my website and my business account with Canada Revenue Agency. And of course the financial proof πŸ™‚

gotta love it haahhahaha!! Our immigration head honcho has a good sense of humor and I managed to keep it light - but he was not happy and told me numerous times - just do border run - next time you do border run - border run much easier πŸ˜‚ He also had a headache - so it wasn't a good day for him.

I love Thailand πŸ‡ΉπŸ‡ ❀️

I did our extensions in Krabi and the officer there wanted to see that the funds had been in our accounts for 3 months. He also wanted a print out of Google map that showed where we live and a picture of us outside our house (2 things I didn't have lol)

But yes - the money was a big thing for our extension.

I know 'next time' a border run is required indeed- he meant the one after that.

I just did mine at Krabi immigration but I definitely had to be persistent. We got there at 8:30am and had it completed by 2pm.

I feel lucky because we dealt with that particular senior officer quite a bit lately (drivers license- buying car etc.) and we have good rapport. However - he said immediately ' why don't you do border run? Do border run - much easier' lol. Easier for who tho? πŸ₯΄

I am super organized and had everything- plus some - printed and ready to submit. I own my own business and work fully online so im here on the digital nomad DTV. Proof of funds is definitely a big one - he came back to it numerous times - even tho we could show we have more than the 500k each. It became very clear that they were not knowledgeable at all about the requirements. I'm pretty sure I know more about it. He did send us home to take a picture of us - in front of our house πŸ˜‚ Happy to oblige. We brought that after lunch - listened to him gruntle a bit more but did get our stamps. We kept it light and humorous and overall it was a pleasant experience. But he made it very clear that border run is expected next time. We shall see lol.
