During a press conference on Friday, March 27th - Pol.Lt.Gen. Somphong Chinguang, the Director of the Royal Thai Immigration Bureau addressed the issue of overcrowding at the Chaengwattana Immigration Bureau in Bangkok and other Immigration offices in Thailand. Immigration 1 can handle approximately 2,000 visitors per day but since Wednesday, March 25th has been handling 5,000 people.

He said that the Immigration Bureau agreed that during the outbreak of the Covid-19 people should be allowed to stay and that fines should be waived. More information to be formally announced soon

The ask:thailand community, consisting of multiple Q/A groups with over 100,000 members, powers this platform. It is not an official government resource. Our members actively contribute to this resource, and while we strive for accuracy, we cannot guarantee its complete reliability. Assistance to travelers is provided as a community service.
