I have my ASQ in Phuket (via Agoda)on Feb 18. Flying from San Francisco to Singapore, then direct to Phuket. My COE has been rejected 3 times. Any recommendations would be great!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is facing challenges obtaining a Certificate of Entry (COE) to travel to Phuket for Alternative State Quarantine (ASQ) due to flight approval issues and lack of direct flights. Comments suggest that the flight may not be on an approved list and highlight a current lack of international flights directly to Phuket. Alternatives presented include traveling to Bangkok first and then proceeding to Phuket after quarantining there. Furthermore, it is advised to check with airlines and local news for the most current travel restrictions and options.

Sir just because there is a flight doesn’t mean you are allowed ASQ the local committee voted against allowing international passenger quarantine in Phuket which is why you have to do it in Bangkok. I am trying to save you the headache have you been following any info on ground in Phuket like Thaiger News? By all means keep not listening to experience I sat for 10 months checking updates on a daily and followed every step lodged my application with ASQ booked and inbound flight booked on Dec 9 before departing a military base in Africa flew back to the US mailed the documents in over night express allowed for 15 day window for processing my passport made it back to me 2 days before my flight I booked my RT-PCR and used Quick MD to do my Fit to fly I flew on the 30Dec landed on 2 Jan and I come out of quarantine on the 17 and fly to Phuket so what I am telling you is the process there are four families here doing the exact same thing so please take a deep breath and listen

@Len ******
I live in Phuket and currently there are no international flights directly in you have to do your ASQ in Bangkok and upon completion fly to Phuket, I would know because I am currently on my last two days in quarantine... so speaking from experience
Lee ****
@Adrion **************
there are some asq packages available now in phuket, how you supposed to get there im not sure!
Adrian ***************
@Lee ***
they have been there since the beginning but I am telling you. You have to stay in Bangkok

as of Feb 4, SIN will be flying into HKT. My flight is Feb 18. I guess if the Feb 4 flight makes it in I’ll be ok. If not, I’ll make other arrangements.

Qatar cancelled all January flights and are going to reevaluate again Feb 1
Lee ****
@Adrion **************
it makes no difference to me im staying in bkk anyway, maybe you should help len out and tell him how you know this as he is booked in
Adam ******

Transit in Singapore is only allowed if you are booked on a Singapore Airlines flight beforehand. Make sure you fly SQ all the way through
Len *******
ORIGINAL POSTER
@Simone *********
I booked directly on Singapore airline website then called their customer service to double check that my ticket woukd allow me to enter to transit to HKT. I’m only going by what I was told by the rep at Singapore Air
Simone **********
@Len ******
as long as it’s SQ you should be fine. Singapore doesn’t allow transit for other Airlines - they are protecting their own airline at the moment
Lee ****
I hope you have done your research into entering Singapore, you will be entering Singapore i think not officially on transit as I suspect you booked 2 separate tickets
Lee ****
At least that is how it would work in most airports
Lee ****
@Garrett **********
he is flying with scoot, so it must be a separate ticket, meaning he won't be officially in transit therefore he will have to enter Singapore
Garrett ***********
@L**
You can transit through an airport on 2 different tickets.
Lee ****
@Garrett **********
of course you can, but in most airports if its a seperate ticket you must enter then leave again. In normal times that would not be a problem for him, but i suspect covid restrictions will prevent him from entering so he wont get past check in. I could be wrong singapore may work differently.
Lee ****
Also you realise because of this your pcr and ftf will be timed from the last flight
Lee ****
If you turn up for the first flight without permission to enter Singapore im sure you will be denied
Garrett ***********
@L**
Thats not correct

What happens if you got an approved COE, and your flight gets canceled… Do you need to reapply for another one?
Istvan *********
@Len ******
you can send e-mail and can get a new one with the new flight number... If I good remember few people did this before
Ron *******
I had my SFO-SIN canceled 3 times in November !!! Good luck and I think you will be okay now.
Len *******
ORIGINAL POSTER
@Ron ******
thanks Ron. As we both know things can change when the wind blows differently. I was wondering... if it is cancelled, do I need to apply for a new COE?
Ron *******
@Len ******
YES, the COE “MUST” state dates and flights etc. I am here now and United just canceled my return flights !!!! I will deal with that closer to the end of February.
Len *******
ORIGINAL POSTER
Finally was approved !!!! The flight from Singapore to Phuket was good to go. Let’s hope they don’t cancel
Simone **********
@Len ******
please send us an update - it would be great news if direct flights Singapore - Phuket would resume!

thank you. Now I need to keep my fingers crossed that no cancellations will happen between now and feb 16

About the only flight I could get approved was SFO-HKG-BKK. Also because you can only have 1 layover (transit) on your flight.
Mark **********
List your arrival airport as BKK
Len *******

@Mark *********
but they won’t allow to wait in airport to transfer to Phuket. Wherever you land in Thailand is where you need to quarantine. I have a direct flight to Phuket from Singapore, but because it’s not Singapore Air and is Silkair, they are not an approved airline. Craziness
Mark **********
@Len ******
ah, really sorry, not at all surprised. I have mdantsane friends trying to get here, wish I could help.

I observe that local travel agencies have no idea about the requirements in order to fly to Phuket and hotels often give erroneous information. Always double check!

thanks Ralph. I called consulate in LA and they said for me to check airlines. Then airlines say check with consulate 🤨

@Len ******
these are the approved flights:

Qatar cancelled their flights to Phuket because they were not assured that they are allowed to fly into Phuket from on February. It was not a decision by the airline (so I heard).
Zabel ******************
Sorry to say at the moment there ain't no international flight to Phuket that might be why they haven't approved the COE.

But alwsy best to just call the embassy and here why they haven't approved it if you did ad teh second adresse.

Where do you stay after ASQ? What is your flight from Singapore to Phuket?
Len *******

the Nai Harn Resort after quarantine
Samita **********
@Len ******
Did you tell them that? I think you need to tell them where do you ASQ and where do you stay afterwards. Then the direct flight to Phuket, which you must make sure to them it hasn’t been cancelled already.
Dave *********
@Samita *********
i just heard all direct flights to Phuket have been cancelled..you should check it out..and you need to do your 15 days ASQ hotel quarantine..
Reiner *********
There is NO direct international flight to phuket at this time ...
Manon *************
easy way to check if a flight is really running or not is to check on Flightradar24 app... you can see by your flight number if all the previous flights were cancelled or not for example

Singapore air. But reading all the replies I see that it looks almost impossible to get to Phuket directly. And I still have 5 weeks to go
Karim ***************
@Len ******
did you pay for your ASQ in Phuket? Without the direct flights to Phuket, you may face problems. I know people who have crossed land border from Cambodia and were able to arrange a car to take them from the border to their ASQ in Bangkok, but it was expensive. You may be able to arrange something from bkk to Phuket (although unlikely).
Garrett ***********
You can only book an ASQ in phuket if you're flying directly into Phuket. If you're flying into Bangkok, you have to do ASQ in Bangkok or Pattaya.
Raoul *******
@Garrett **********
So if one fly's into Bkk you can do your ASQ in Pattaya, that that correct ?
Garrett ***********
@Ra***
That is correct. There are only 2 or 3 hotels in Pattaya and you need to book a quarantine taxi with them.
Raoul *******
@Garrett **********
Awesome, I didn't know that, thank you so much for the information 🙏🏽
Simone **********
I am living in Singapore and my son lives in Phuket Thailand - we have been through all this trouble before. At the moment there are no direct flights from Singapore to Phuket, the only option is to books a Singapore Airlines flight to Bangkok and do your 14 days quarantine there. Obviously the hotel in Phuket told you rubbish !!! We can’t wait until direct flights will be possible again but at the moment absolut zero flights available. My son had to do 2 weeks quarantine in Bangkok and after that catch a plane to Phuket. Sorry for the bad news 🥲

yes, this what I was told, so Singapore air was on the list when I booked as it flies direct to Phuket

Currently no international flights are coming into Phuket. Some airlines are still selling them and then cancelling them. It would be safer to fly into BKK and do your quarantine there and then make your way to Phuket. Good luck.
Michael ********
@Dave **********
Qatar are flying once a week direct to Phuket

@Michael *******

As far as I know there are currently no direct international flights to Phuket, expect you will need to fly into and quarentine in Bangkok.

well that’s only agoda...-but not official

@Reiner ********
you can book ASQ through Agoda. The issue is no international flights into Phuket.

@Paul *******
Qatar cancelled my flight. Not flying direct now to Phuket.
Paul ********
@Len ******
you have to fly direct for ASQ unfortunately
Vicky *********
You have not provided an address where you will be staying after ASQ. And it seems your flight is not on the list of approved airlines/ flights.
Len *******
ORIGINAL POSTER
That’s untrue. When I spoke to the consulate in LA, they told me as long as I had a direct flight into Phuket, and my hotel was in Phuket, it was OK, which is how I got the COE approved. You cannot go to Bangkok and then to Phuket… Wherever you land, that is where you need to do your quarantine. There are limited flights to Phuket, but starting in February Singapore air is flying once a week… On Thursdays
Adrian ***************
Len Hayko your address initially should be Bangkok. your arrival flight should be Bangkok. Because even though you see flights the process is you Fly into Bangkok stay at an ASQ than you you book a domestic flight to Phuket book that midway through your ASQ stay
Len *******
ORIGINAL POSTER
@Vicky ********
I provided receipt and address from Agoda and also confirmation from hotel .. all attached to “other documents” on COE application
Vicky *********
@Len ******
you need to have an address for where you will be staying after you come out of the quarantine hotel you booked in Agoda. Do you mean you have that booked through Agoda as well? If so, I would call the consulate to see what the issue is.
