you mean Bangkok Bank. There are other banks that are as popular as BBL: Kasikorn, SCB, TMB are good examples (especially outside of the Bangkok area). UOB is also very popular as it is singaporian with branches in the region.
Not sure what an agent will do for you.
Just go to the bank with your passport.
If you don’t speak thai, choose a large branch as they probably have someone speaking english + experience in dealing with foreigners.
You might be able to open an account without a resident visa in a few branches in tourist areas and/or largest branches.
as an example, while in France, I cannot connect to any of the local networks with a thai sim (don’t know why). If you bring a mobile from abroad in most countries, you will have to update settings as per the carrier T&C and local regulations. Some phones can be bought with promotions from a carrier, you might have to unlock it before being able to use anotre sim, etc.
somebody’s having a bad day. 🤭just answering the OP’s questions. I don’t care what options he takes or how he showers. Take a walk outside, breathe: life is beautiful. Peace 🙏🏻
yes. The issue is not the cost of inbound sms but network compatibility. You just might not be able to receive them at all. Staying off local networks while on the thai sim was advised by Dtac. You avoid conflicts, compatibility issues and other potential unnecessary unpleasantness. I do switch sim cards for 10 minutes once in a while abroad.
nobody tells anyone to go to court. You don’t invest 100 k in legal fees over a water heater. I haven’t had one in Thailand for the last 20 years but that was not the issue. Thanks for the input 👍🏻
What I have been doing for many years is to put the thai sim card back in the phone whenever i need to get an otp or use a thai app. Before leaving Thailand you need to change some settings to allow receiving sms abroad through wifi (this option is standard for true, ais and dtac). When you need to use the app, change the sim card while being on airplane mode. Once the thai sim is in your phone, switch wifi on on your phone (ONLY wifi). You will be able to access your thai apps and get thai sms (including OTPs) and it won’t cost you a baht.
I suggest you keep your old phone for now. Don’t switch abroad as uploading and changing thai carrier parameters could be challenging.
inform them formally that because of the delay you will take care of the matter and deduct the cost from the next rent. Deduct only the actual cost supported by an actual invoice. make sure to have screenshots of the exchanges you have with them. worse case, I can recommend you a nice english-speaking thai lawyer that will deal with them with just one phone call. Her cost is 2.5 or 3.5 k for this service (used her services once)
