Can I leave Thailand while processing my Non-O visa and still retain my application status?

Hi group

So i will process my 14-days extension of stay at CW tomorrow after submiting TM30 (i am 50, and will show the required bank documents with 800 k) before getting the 90 days.

Am i correct to assume that leaving the country before the 14 days expire will cancel the process and that i will have to start over and go through the stress of passing airport immigration again when I am back.

Or may i buy a re-entry and continue the process?

For context: when i came back to bkk early october on 30 day exemption, i bought a tkt to SGN for next week end as my return tkt to France is in December (to avoid risk of being denied boarding by the airline). I would like to do that trip if possible

[apologies for raising more issues]

TLDR : Answer Summary
The original query revolves around the process of extending a stay in Thailand and applying for a Non-O visa while worried about the implications of leaving the country during the application period. The consensus from the community suggests that a re-entry permit is necessary if the individual leaves Thailand while their Non-O visa application is pending. There was also clarification regarding the process at the immigration office and the importance of returning on the date stamped on the receipt for the Non-O visa.

Following up. After 6 missed calls (i am retired! 🤪 why would i get up before 8:00 am lol), got the visit of an IO who asked a few questions, checked my documents and took a few pictures. Nothing out of the ordinary and the guy was really friendly.

Will go back to CW on Nov6

Congratulations Now don't forget to go back on the date stamped on your receipt paper to get the 90 day stamp and the Non-O visa inked into your passport.

What you do on that day is GO to the queue counter, get a queue number for section C-1 but then don't wait for it to be called. Instead just walk over there with your passport and receipt and show it to an officer in that section. They'll take your passport, tell you to sit down, they'll stamp the Non-O visa and a new 90 day entry stamp into your passport and bring it out to you.

OKay, I deleted my comments seeing as I just read that you came in on a 30 day visa exempt entry.

At Chaengwattana IF you don't have 15 days left on your current entry stamp you go get a 30 day extension in section K, then you go to section C-1 and apply for the 90 day non-O, then IF you're going to leave the country during that 14 days the application is under review you need to get a re-entry permit (either at the airport before you fly out or at the immigration office seeing as you're there now) AND it goes without saying you need to be back inside thailand in time to go to the immgiration office on the date stamped on your receipt for the Non- O visa

just to dis appoint you but hopefully not spoiling your weekend. What ever visa you will hold inside your passport there is NO way to avoid passing Immigration before you enter a country.

@Robert ******
i get that. But there is a difference between entering with a re-entry and asking for a new 30 days exemption; the latest being stressful enough that I’d rather cancel my trip 😬

IF you apply for the 90 day Non-O visa and have the 14 day under consideration receipt but need to leave/come back during that time you would need to get a re-entry permit to keep your current entry stamp valid.

I think you are meaning you will APPLY for a 90 day Non-O visa in country when you have 15 days or more left on your current stamp and they will give you a paper that says to go back to the immigration office in 2 weeks to get the Non-O visa and a new 90 day stamp inked into your passport..

There is no 14 day extension :/

IN order to apply for an in country Non-Immigrant visa in Bangkok, you need at least 15 days left on your CURRENT entry stamp (either a 30 day visa exempt, a 60 day tourist visa or a 30 day extension off one of those).
