Thanks Brian...better that he does his research first he might decide he wants to go elsewhere...many are saying Vietnam is now a good choice...doesn't apply to me though being in a relationship ππΌ
My advice for what it's worth is to put everything on hold for 6 to 8 months and hopefully by then the global Covid situation would have improved and hopefully be under control...in that time build up your knowledge and keep a written account of everything that might be useful...health insurance is one area that you will have to spend a lot of time on...as well as areas that you want to possibly live in, local crime, police and laws, the monarchy (you have to be extremely careful what you say in Thailand - maybe you heard about the defamation case just recently?)...also join as many forums as you can find and just absorb as much as you...there is much to learn I've been with my Thai partner 3 years and still know nothing lol...also learning the language might be a tad useful (it's not easy IMO especially their alphabet)...hope this helps and good luck ππΌπ
- arrh I see lol...figures...I look forward to their visit in due course should be interesting...we have been together since 2017 and now 3 visits to Thailand and she's made one to the UK so shouldn't be a problem will show them Facebook lol πππΌ
- could not disagree more...the Immigration Bureaus give free advice and are usually very helpful! Why pay someone else for what is actually a simple process provided you follow the advice given π€
- thanks for clarification Stephen I can't meet the retirement income criteria so I will stick with the marriage one...interesting that Immigration were trying to persuade me to do the retirement one thank god for knowledgeable people like yourself much appreciated ππΌππΌππΌππΌππΌ
- thanks Stephen for that clarification that's good to hear...a question for you if I may...what are the differences between O based on marriage to O based on retirement? Any advantages or disadvantages? It's so confusing π€π
