Added 30 minutes to the process; not a huge deal but a bit stressful as immigration officers informed me I could be charged a fine if my hotel didn’t report me. In other words, the Thai government is essentially putting the responsibility on not only expats, but also on tourists, most of whom have no clue they could be in for a surprise.
