But I needed 90 days stamp so the agent asked for an extra 1000 baht for the extra 60 days. Just make sure that you have everything clear with the agent before going to Burma.
Just make sure that you tell the agent that you need more than 30 days if you are on a marriage visa and need 90 day stamp. If you don't have a plane ticket out of Thailand, you will need to use an agent. I was quoted 1700 baht for a private long-tail round trip including Burma entry and exit stamp and Thai immigration not checking the outward plane ticket and having to show 10,000 baht in cash. I used my TM30 with my Phuket address.
You need to show a plane ticket out of Thailand and they will only give you a 30 day stamp. If you need more than 30 days, you may have to use one of the agents at the PTT station about 50 meters from the long-tail landing pier where you have to get your stamp.
You can go to Ranong and take a long-tail boat to Burma and back. This takes about an hour outside of Thailand. This will be your cheapest border run from Hua Hin.
I did the marriage visa Non O one year ago. Arrived on a Thursday with a Thai holiday on Friday. We had a Thai Passport on my Thai wife's 11 year old Ford Ranger Wildtrak. We both had international drivers licenses from the Thai transport office in Loei. There was no line at the border and the price was way cheaper with $40 US for the Visa for US citizens. We went to the consulate on Thursday morning and we were the only ones there. We had completed the online form and had all documents copied and ready to hand over to the consulate. The lady said to come back at 10 AM on Monday to pick up my passport with the multi entry Non O marriage visa. I gave 5000 baht in cash and requested a receipt for the 5000 baht and this was provided after a bit of discussion. The reason is that we were planning to drive to Pakse in the south of Laos for the long weekend. We were at the Thai consulate for less than 10 minutes and we took off for the long drive to Pakse. The road wad paved but full of deep potholes so the going was slow. Halfway, we passed a police Checkpoint. Lucky that our car papers were in order with insurance for Laos. The passport receipt from the Thai consulate came in handy because the police wanted to see my passport and Laos visa which was at the consulate in Savannakhet. We fortunately had a photocopy of my passport and a photo of my Laos visa in my phone which was also helpful. We made it about half way to Pakse the first night and stayed in a hotel on the highway. The next day we made it to our hotel in Pakse. We spent two nights there and made day trips to see the Tad Fane dual waterfalls and zipline which was the highlight of our holiday. We wanted to see the waterfall further south on the Mekong but we were enjoying the shopping in Pakse at the market which is amazing. We had a very memorable vacation in Southern Laos. The prices for everything was cheaper than Thailand and the Laos people were just great! There was a PTT gas station to fill up the deisel on the truck.
If I don't get my marriage visa extension in Phuket from that visa that expired on August 10, i will go back to Savanahkeht and do it again! (Got 90 day stamp in Ranong by going to Burma and back on long tail boat on July 27)
In Phuket, you simply go through the drive through windo and if you haven't moved your residence, they will stamp your TM30 and this takes less than 5 minutes.
I was in similar situation when I was living in Thailand on a marriage visa. I got hired by a Thai company and I heard that there was no quota to hire Thai people since I was on a marriage visa. While I was working in Thailand for three years, my employer's agent switched me over to to Work Visa which was against our agreement. This caused a major problem for me because the day that the company shut down with the pandemic, I was told to leave Thailand because my employer changed my marriage visa extension to a work visa instead. I managed to fly back to Loei and paid a one day overstay and applied for a marriage visa extension. In Loei. I had a work permit from the very beginning when I started with this employer but immigration gave our company agent a real hard time complaining how much trouble it was to do the marriage visa extension.
If you are using a US passport, you will have a lot of problems to open a bank account. They hate all the FATCA paperwork including the W9 IRS form that must be completed. The solution is ask for the manager! Usually once you do this, they will hand you the forms. Best is to use the main branches in town not the shopping malls.
