It’s against the rules to go back to Thailand before your DTV is approved. Best option is to get an extension or a Visa for Laos so you can stay there while you wait for approval or go to another country to do your application

I do understand that

My dad had to persevere until he found a more senior person (with a good understanding of English) who finally understood his need for a TIN and processed it

Again I guess it is easier for some to just say ‘no need’ and send you on your way

This is where language is so important

applying for the non-O Visa in your own country requires the money to be in any bank.

When you apply for the one year extension based on retirement within Thailand the money has to be in a Thai bank
