I wonder if and how many of the hotels actually report guests. It must be an administrative nightmare.
What you're saying at the end is kind of true, or at least it still was about a year ago. I rented an apartment for 6 months, and when I was presented with the TM30 for the first time ever, they just told me to fill it out myself! Did that twice and had no problems... haha
Thanks Ricky, I'd normally have no problem just trying, Thailand has improved my patience quite a lot over the years ;) But since it's a timely issue, I don't wanna risk any complications.
I'm particularly interested in this because the hard time they gave me seemed to be purely based on the passport he had in his hands. He wasn't staring at a screen for 2 minutes. Rather, he flipped through the pages back and forth several times, started to grin and then called his colleague. They were kind of having a laugh. Again: this passport showed entries for a stay of about 1.5 years, no overstay, no denials, etc... And I don't wanna play the "I'm from <insert top 10 HDI country here>" card, but, you know...
Sorry, regarding the second part of the question: Any known potential future "repercussions" for having that stamp? It is a 'get outta here' stamp after all...
