I was able to open an account with education visa. My advice is to find a bank that you can utilize for some reason other then opening an account. Go there a few times so they start to recognize you. Then after you do that. Ask if they can help you open an account. I did this at a krungsri location in Bangkok that I know regularly turns people down.

we don't know the full story or situation so no way to know the situation or if the guy is an asshole & maybe the life's lesson will be a positive one.

If you live in a building you can leave stuff neatly in the trash room and the workers will for sure make sure it doesn't go to waste. Same thing as giving it away.

it is important to respect traditions, to respect the people and the land. Whether or not someone plays cards, and gambles, has absolutely nothing to do with showing any respect towards Thailand, or any other country. These are two totally different topics.
