I’m in a desperate dilemma. Maybe I’ll be ok, but there’s potential of significant harm.
My trip to Thailand was cut short by progressive agitation of my lung injury, the final part due to vibrations of a bus. I’ve been recuperating in a great place in Ao Nang, where healing’s been steady but slow. It’s been 32 days and I’m still not safe for traveling.
My 60-day visa runs out March 16, and to extend I must go to an immigration office 30 minutes away. But car vibrations are bad for me. I could avoid that by sending them a Thai medical certification, but for that I’d need to go the local hospital – 7 minutes by car, not as bad. But there’s nothing doctors can do to confirm my condition; tests will show normal. All a Thai doctor can do is listen to my American doctor, who doesn’t know much though he’d probably write a letter. Without a letter, the Thai hospital won’t grant the certification (and might not even with a letter). I have until Monday (March 17) to get to this done.
The consequences of overstaying my visa are harsh. First, there are fees and bans; the latter would be terrible as I’m considering making Thailand a winter home. Far worse, if found, I’d probably face forced deportment, which could be a potential health catastrophe.
So my dilemma is I'm now forced to take serious risks with my health, likely to some level of injury degrading my quality of life temporarily, and possibly permanently and critically. Ironically, this might land me in the same predicament as earlier, needing more time to recover, but with no option to extend and having to leave the country, at greater risk.
I estimate I could probably make either trip (hospital or immigration office) without major problems. But it’s hard to say.
* One exchange with the US consulate sounds promising, but there's more to work out.
* I've heard of a visa agent, so you don't have to go in. Is this an option?
Wanting to apply for DTV for medical treatment, does anyone know if they accept Medical certificates from clinics and not hospitals?
Also has anyone been able to use their partners income to prove they have income and 500,000 baht in the bank? As I am out of work due to medical conditions but am financially supported by my partner and my name is also on his account.
Been talking to a lawyer and they’re saying it’s possible but to pay a fee to continue with the process, thought I’d see if anyone else has been able to get the DTV under these circumstances.
I have applied for a 10-year LTR visa. A medical certificate may be required. What info are they seeking? I could not find an example on the LTR site or anywhere.
Does anyone know if Thailand are accepting the English NHS Covid Recovery QR code as proof of recovery? The website says medical certificate. But I've called the NHS phone line and they seem to think this is the same thing. Thanks ✌️
I made an appointment to obtain my covid 19 medical certificate RT PCR within 72 hours of departure at Urgent Care (California). The woman I spoke with has never heard of a "Fit-to-Fly-Medical-Certificate." Are you people sure that Thailand no longer requires this? When I call their consulate in Los Angeles and listen to a recording of requirements, this is one item on their list. Did they omit it from their official stipulation and forget to edit the recording? Where would someone in California go to obtain a "Fit-to-Fly-Medical-Certificate" if he or she so desired? If Thailand doesn't want it, maybe I should call my airlines (American Airlines / Japan Airlines) and if they don't want it either I could just flush the whole idea down the toilet.
I am just leaving jomtien immigration where I was turned away with a medical certificate from bangkok hospital saying I am unable to fly for 14 days. They said they only accept embassy letters not medical certicates. Is this the policy at all immigration officea in thailand? I thought if u had an embassy letter OR a medical certificate u would be given an extension.
Is the visa extension (with embassy letter or medical certificate) available to former Non-B Visa Holders who went onto amnesty, or only tourists who went onto amnesty?
My non-b renewal process is taking longer than expected, so with the 26th approaching soon I'd love to know!
