A lot of posts from Taipei highlight the need for business registration of the company you work for. Taipei still approves same day, making it the fastest still you just have to be on point with everything. The lady you met sounds like the one who I applied with in person just before it went online.

Many work and live in other countries than their home country. Some countries process the DTV much quicker than their own. In Taipei, I met some who flew all the way from America as Taipei approved within 8 hours.

There are some posts from Tokyo Workcation applicants given 6mths. Japanese applicants not just visitors. One went to Cambodia to get approved after METV ended.
