I should have said 60,000 to spare. I could get it but it isn't in the budget.
But it is 60,000 for 15 months. Compaired to the other options Thailand has come up with (that hurt tourism even before the Pandemic) that is -almost- worth it.
I have overheard (a year ago) a conversation with a senior IO with an expat. Apparently he had an O Visa before and the IO was hassling him about coming in on a Tourist Visa this time.
I got the Impression that if you have shelled out money before, they don't like you to come in on a cheaper visa.
In this guy's case (the one I overheard) maybe they thought he was living in Thailand before and would still be living in Thailand on a Tourist Visa.
I had it for over a year. Agents say most large Hospitals in Bangkok take it.
It is good worldwide except USA. And Covers Covid. They issue a form verifying this but I had to ask my Agent fot it.
But I am in Cambodia now and when I pressed him I got the impression they have had issues with the smaller hospitals in Phnom Penh. He recommended the largest hospitals. Especially International hospitals.
I am sure the smaller hospitals would take it but they are going to pressure you for self-pay. Probably the same with most Insurance Companies.
Never had to use it. So I cannot vouch for how seamless it is. Have not heard anything good or bad about them online. Except their own advertising.
In other words, Immigration could decide to deny it. So I would still recommend that he has supporting documentation.
You know, I am off the subject here, but they say IOs have discretionary authority. But in my experience, pre-Covid, that is not really true. They have the authority to not admit you based on just a hunch, but they no longer have the authority to admit a person just because they have they have an ability to do so.
