It’s perfectly legal to be a tourist in most countries.

There is no limit to the number of times you can enter a country. (Thailand has a restriction on land border crossings. I believe twice a year but I always fly so never worried about that)

If you’re planning on something other than visiting then you need to apply for the appropriate visa. From your description of your plan you’ll be fine on tourist entry.

Thailand gives you 30 days on arrival. (Extend to 60 days in country)

Malaysia gives you 90 days on arrival

Vietnam gives me 45 days on arrival (not sure about US)

So just bounce between the countries. Flights are very cheap

You could also add Cambodia to the list

If you split your time between Thailand, Malaysia and maybe Vietbam then you won’t need to bother with any visas at all
