isn't it a non oa if done outside of thailand which requires you to have insurance? I did my Non O 7 years ago and just do my extensions every is easy..

why? It is hard to open a bank account so I recommend using an agent to help open an account and transfer the funds. You can do the non o and extension yourself or for convince have an agent do the paper work.

Come to Thailand on a Visa except stamp, and contact and agent, they will get you a bank account setup then transfer 800k, then do the non o visa then a 1 year extension based on retirement.

so investing as in stock investing or what? I am looking for good investment opportunities for my funds sitting in canada earning basically nothing. I agree you won't make much ina deposit accounting thailand but 800k is not a lot to keep in an account for visa purposes only. I look at that 800k as in inherentance for my kid someday.

what bank in Canada is paying decent interest nowadays? I have a Scotia Bank account and they pay almost zero percent. I get 1.5% from SCB

With Accor points you still need to provide a credit card at checking for any incidentals? You can book a room using points for another person but the other person will still need to provide a credit card or cash as a security deposit. How did you know so fast that someone stole your points and checked into a hotel?

use the shop on the left as you walk I to Jomtien immigration, just tell them you want a recisence certificate, they will will out the form, make photo copies and take your picture, then go over, had in your paperwork pay the fee 300 baht I think then pick up you resident certificate at after 3pm if you applied in the morning or at after 9am the next day if you applied in the afternoon. Is very easy to do, but remember the resident certificate is only valid for 30 days so get it when you have purchased a car.. the have the owner meet you at the registration shop, don't ha d over the money until the car had been inspected and you have been told everything is good.

Here you go, this is a hostel for sale, 7.5 million baht, so if you find someone who has 7.3 million you could buy it together.
