Thank you for posting this guide. Hadn't seen it before and I'm just now trying to find the best way to xfer funds so that they are marked as an international xfer. This looks perfect.
I don't know all of the rules but I know that some schools will help you get a 6 month visa for studying with them. I don't know about their age limits, sorry. I'd suggest asking a few more.
Yes, thanks. Not interested in agents that use shady tactics/bribes. I think my situation is fairly simple, I just want to avoid making mistakes that cause me to make multiple trips to immigration, or have to redo my 800k transfer (and wait more time for it to cure, etc).
I ran into similar issues -- went to at least 10 different banks and branches around Bangkok in late March and early April only to be told finally by 2 of them that the Bank of Thailand (the gov't agency the makes the rules) made some new rules in March that make it much harder for people to open bank accounts on tourist visas (or visa exempt, etc) -- one of the main law firms in Bangkok told me the same thing (this is a firm that used to do it for folks for 5,000 baht for a letter to the bank from their firm). I ended up getting an ED visa since I wanted to learn the language anyway, and it was easy to open a bank account with my ED visa and a letter from my school.
Thanks, I understand you can do both but I need to return to US for other reasons in Jan, so for me it is either/or... so trying to get the most of this trip by getting 45 more days. Mainly trying to find out if 45 day exemption is available at all border crossings regardless of land or air... and what the most expedient and certain process is.
Thanks, I have tried Google but have seen some info that left me with questions about whether you get 45 day at all borders... I'm closer to Laos (in Loei) and from what I've read so far it seems Thai immigration offices in different provinces might not all be operating with the same rules.
