You will be eligible for 3 month extensions. The school will give you the paperwork and you’ll take it to immigration every three months. Just make sure you study..
If you have any doubts have him call the hmrc. They are surprisingly helpful for genuine enquiries and will tell you the rules. They are not out to trap you and will be forthright with their advice. If you are still in doubt then contact an accounting firm
That specializes in non residency for tax purposes. But do not just think it will be ok as there are huge savings to be made if you follow the rules. First order of business is to be declared a non resident for tax purposes.
are you sure it’s 3 years? My school said that it’s now only 1-1.5 years depending on when you first enrolled. I know things change frequently but is 3 years the latest guidance? This was 4-5 months ago. School was kpt in phangan.
they told us the extra 6 months was because we signed up before Jan 2017. Anyone else who signed up after that date was only eligible for a year. It’s a shame they are limiting this as genuine students like me will suffer.
Tod Daniels I just finished a 1 year Thai language course and the school now says that I can only get another 6 months worth of ED visa and after that I wouldn’t be eligible for any more ED visa for Thai language, but could possibly apply for another language. I’m keen to continue learning Thai and don’t want to learn another language. Do you know the official stance on what’s going on as this seems very strange and I believe that it may be to do with so many Thai students scamming the system and not going to class. This is in Samui / phangan area and is apparently what Samui immigration is saying and may not be official policy. Thanks for any insight. ( I’m actually leaving the country till may and hoped to return again for another year of study.)
the big problem for the buyer that doesn’t read Thai and has never been through the process is getting stuck with a bike that isn’t up to date with tax as this can be a. Nightmare to sort out and one the buyer has their money you are left to pay the outstanding tax plus fines which can add up quite quickly especially if the tax hasn’t been paid for 3 or more years. Standard practice at least for foreigners is to only part with the money once your name is in the book.
Just re did my car tax in phangan and asked if they can change name in the green book here, yes it possible so once you have the residence certificate you bring all the docs to the building just to the right of big c, building looks like a weigh station.
