My husband and I just crossed into Thailand from Cambodia by land border. I noticed at the immigration office that my passport had been stamped for only 13 days and my husbands for 30. When I tried to go back, I was ushered out and unable to have it fixed. We have Canadian passports. I read that I will need to go back to that border crossing to have it fixed but do I need to do that if I just leave before the stamp date? We will just cut our time here to leave before that date because going back is going to be extremely disruptive to our trip. Thanks in advance!

As of October 1st citizens from 53 countries that are able to enter Thailand visa exempt will get a stamp for 45 days (up from 30). Currently it’s due to revert back to 30 days on March 31st next year - although we may hear closer to that date if things have changed.

What hasn’t changed for these citizens is that they may apply for one extension of their entry for a further 30 days at a local immigration office. Extensions have NOT changed to 45 days.

[edit: It appears the official order did actually include the 6 countries with a bilateral 30 day entry, who would get a pp30 entry stamp. Deleted that paragraph as an earlier edict from the PR Department had said they weren’t. ]

All extensions of any duration cost 1,900 baht.

If you’re from one of the 53 countries then do the maths on whether you’re better off buying a tourist visa prior to entering Thailand (approx £30/$35) where you’ll be stamped in for 60 days or enter visa exempt for free but need an extension to cover the days you need for 1,900 baht (approx £45/$50). Max entry with an extension would be 75 days, or tourist visa 90 days.

Edit: Forgot to mention that visa on arrival (VOA) countries will get 30 days on arrival - up from 15.

hi thanks so much for helping everyone! Please see the 3 stamps attached. My Filipina GF arrived December 27th on a 60-day and then we extended for another 30 days until March 25. We paid $1,900 for a 7-Day extension until April 1. We went back before April 1 with a letter from her embassy and then they forced us (and everyone else who was there before their extension expired) to overstay one day before they would accept the 2nd 1,900 & give her the last stamp until April 16th. On April 6th we were locked down in our district and the police would not let us go to any immigration office on or before April 16th. It's the March 26th date that baffles us....What do you think we should do?
