Not the best advice, but personally if I got to 81 at the end of a 20 year Thai Elite, I'd consider just throwing my passport in the river and staying put.

Yer I'd go with Benjamin's final suggestion, sort your visa out and let kiddo overstay.

I'll add that even as a frequent flyer with Oman Air, even when I have a valid visa they always check I have a return flight. Obviously all carriers are different, just my experience them them in particular.

In the UK now a visa can only be applied from online. This is the new Thai Embassy's visa application website.

I noticed the same thing on the main Thai Embassy website last week also, I took a screenshot, I'll try to find it.

Interestingly, METV is available if visiting family, but not for tourism and leisure (i don't want METV, just and observation)
