I think the trick is, Don't extend your stay after entering. One Westerner reported entering TH via BKK at least six (6) times within one calendar year solely on visa exempt, and never having any trouble.

Simply expand your entry points and mix everything up for them.

I have read on Thai Visa Forum that certain airports are notorious for scrutinizing frequent visitors and even denying entry: BKK, CNX & HKT to name a few.

Perhaps you should try others next time.

As far as I know, the Immigration policy for typical tourists in 2019 was a max of two overland entries in a calendar year.

No limits to non-overland entry (by air or even by sea), as many tourists have reported. Only the IO's discretion mattered.
