@Tammy *****
you can...

I opened one in October 2021 with Bangkok Bank, head office. I needed to submit an Embassy Certified copy of my passport, TM30 info and had my Thai partner come along, she was asked to vouch for my address.

Declined to take their insurance, deposited 500THB. Took about 45 minutes. I was on a covid extended Tourist Visa.

Requirements for non-o 90 day application at Chaeng Watthana, Bangkok

Open Thai bank account.

Move in 800k THB.

Submit non-o 90 day application with more than 15 days on your current stamp, 2000 THB.

Once 800k has seasoned for two months, apply for 12 month extension, 1900 THB.

initially, I was asking for the wrong document from the UK Embassy. I was asking for a letter confirming residence, which they cannot give to me while on a tourist visa. Then the bank said they would accept a certified copy of my passport. Obviously every countries embassy is different, but I started off asking for the wrong thing and not realising

it's a photocopy of your passport, not a letter, which they state is a copy of a real passport.

I think what they probably want from your embassy is an 'Embassy certified copy of your passport' at least that's what Bangkok Bank wanted from me. (Although that was in Bangkok, last October). No insurance was needed, it was offered but I didn't want it.

it's well worth making an appointment online for Chaeng Watthana if you plan to go off the back of a TM30 submitted in Bangkok.

@William *****
he came in on a Tourist Visa so would need to go to Chaeng Watthana if staying in Bangkok.

best solution, only involve an agent as last resort. You only arrived recently visa exempt, have you had the normal 30 day extension yet?

Then the covid one is easy first time, just apply before
****
after your 30 day extension. That will take you to end of May for 3800 THB.

How much is the visa agent charging? What are you getting for that?
