The 7 day grace period does not exempt you from having to file if you leave the country within those 7 days. It's only a grace period to give extra time to submit the report. If you do your first 90 day report early and stay for the full 180 days then you will need to submit a second 90 day report.

He's leaving his job so I don't think he has the option of keeping the non-B

I heard that you only need a copy of your original passport that is tied to your visa, you don't need the original. So if you have a copy of your old lost passport you should be able to present that along with your new passport to enter. Maybe a good idea to also carry a copy of your police report or other documentation proving that your old passport was lost.

Selling scooters, laptops, and cars as a business to earn income absolutely you would need a work permit as well.

Technically managing your own rental (advertising, showing it to potential renters, negotating lease terms, arranging repairs, etc) can be considered working. Even though it's technically illegal you are not likely to have any problems especially if you only own 1 or 2 condos.

Some of us already have bank accounts opened before getting a DTV. There is no law that any specific visa is required to open a bank account. It's up the the policy of the bank. Currently all the banks are not opening new accounts for DTV holders and some (mostly Bangkok Bank) are even closing existing accounts. If you already have a bank account then there is nothing illegal about keeping it open and collecting interest income.

About renting a condo you own you have been misinformed. As long as someone else such as a friend or property management company is managing it for you then you don't need a work permit or any special type of visa.

There is no restriction about receiving Thai income as long as you are not working.

That's not true. You can earn money in Thailand through passive income. The most simple example is bank interest. You can also earn money from renting out a condo (as long as someone else is managing it). You can even own shares in a Thai company and earn dividend income, as long as you are not working for that company.

I think you are misunderstanding the message you received. They sent out a message saying that face scans are now available for foreigners. It's optional and only needed if you need to transfer over 50k in one transaction or 200k in one day. I don't think you did this in June because face scans were not available for foreigners in June.

As others have said your friend was denied entry, not deported. Did your friend have an actual tourist visa when they were denied entry? Or were they trying to enter with a visa exemption?
Ja***
I think it's very unlikely with SCB because they had much stricter requirements and never opened accounts for people on tourist visas in the first place. Most of account closures are from Bangkok Bank which historically had much looser requirements to open an account. I opened an SCB account last year with an ED visa and no problems so far keeping the account open with a DTV.
