Theoretically, if you lose your passport what can you do in that case? I've read many comments here saying there's no way to transfer dtv into a new passport through immigration. So what should one do in this situation? Apply for a new dtv?

TLDR : Answer Summary
If you lose your passport while on a Digital Nomad Visa (DTV) in Thailand, you generally have two options. You can apply for a new visa or go to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or the embassy for assistance. It is suggested to carry a copy of your lost passport, along with documentation like a police report, to facilitate the process. Many expats report being able to enter or re-enter Thailand with just a copy of their old passport and their new one, but experiences may vary.
I think re apply is the easiest way. A good travel insurance will pay for the visa costs.

I heard that you only need a copy of your original passport that is tied to your visa, you don't need the original. So if you have a copy of your old lost passport you should be able to present that along with your new passport to enter. Maybe a good idea to also carry a copy of your police report or other documentation proving that your old passport was lost.

I entered 2 weeks ago with a new passport, they didnβt even want to check the old passport, which I bought with me for stampsake. 2 minutes done. I got a new shiny 180 day stamp.

You can get a new one and attempt to leave and return and get a new stamp

It would be useful to have a photo of your passport.

Usually when this happens you go to immigration fill this form (link) and bring the required documents. But I never saw someone with DTV experienced this. Maybe better go to an immigration office to ask.
Perhaps able to go to the ministry of foreign affairs building in Bangkok? Since it was their department that created it. They may have a solution, if have a Thai partner perhaps easier. Just a thought.
I doubt the MFA pay much interest to the DTV these days and have moved on to other priorities under a new minister. Not seen any of their staff interviewed about it or promoting it for over a year.
I think the demand for DTVs has fallen off but that is to be expected. All those who wanted them initially probably got them in first 6 months. Now just a steady stream.

Yes you have to apply for a new visa. There was a report in another group that this was the only solution, as immigration in Thailand have no interest in the DTV

I did read that somewhere in one of these posts β¦it came up in an expired passport post
with expired passport you can just bring your both your new and old passport along with you from what I understand but I was wondering what you'd do in case it is missing completely π

Anonymous participant yeah sorry I meant that you are correct in saying you would need to apply for a new one.
Someone posted a screenshot from the embassy they applied for saying in case of a lost passport you would need to re apply.
