I just came in 2 years ago no visa just my U.S passport which back than made me exempt from visa for 30 days(it might be 60 days now I heard) than went through the whole process of getting my retirement visa. If you do it in Thailand you don't have to show proof of medical insurance and getting a criminal background check from your country plus I could talk(if possible lolll)to my immigration office in Thailand about what I exactly need. Anything that makes it easier is a good thing in Thailand 😄
I cut my credit cards up many years ago mate. The never ending cycle of paying back money with interest that was never your money to begin with is just the banks trap they love their customers to be in.
Keep your hopes up mate I was turned away in a good 8 different banks and finally Bangkok Bank allowed me the honor🙄 of opening a savings account. Actually I went to 3 different Bangkok branches the 3rd one agreed to it. Each branch has their own attitude towards helping foreigners. You'd think that they'd be glad to help since their getting in my case over 800,000 bahts which basically sits in their bank paying me very little interest... But not lolll if you really want the Thai life keep trying you'll get there👍
I have wise and I'm retired in Thailand. That looks right for how much wise charges. Usually around 240 bahts for sending a 1000 dollars over. But it's sent to my bank acct in Thailand so I don't get any other charges. I stay away from ATM withdrawals using a foreign card due to extra charges and those surprise charges😄
I did everything after I moved here .. much easier well it's still a pain in the butt but you don't have to have medical and don't need to give them a report from your country to check you out for criminal activity when applying from within Thailand.
Well my friend you may not have any tax owed depending what kind of money you used and when that money was saved. I bring in only social security which is 100 percent exempt from taxes due to The double taxation agreement.
