on and off. Hard to predict. Sometimes it only rains in part of Bangkok and the rest is dry. Hit and miss πŸ™‚ but I feel safer driving here (and in the rain) than in Europe or the U.S. Maybe it is just my imagination but I feel drivers are more polite and respectful here, in particular towards scooters and motorcycles.

Enter as a tourist, when you have the visa email, leave Thailand and do a trip to one of the neighboring countries, and then return to activate your non-O. However, you need to plan a little as your initial non-O will only be valid for 90 days and you can only file the 1 year extension if you have 30 days left on your original non-O. And you need to plan about a month processing time for the one year extension as this is when you need to submit substantial paperwork.

my wife does it at SCB quite regularly. No issue at all. However, they take a small fee for the service.
