It is illegal for anyone to hold your passport without your consent. You do know that, right?

Quickly get it back and let's hope your former boss didn't use your passport as collateral to a 500mil baht loan.

then drive as fast as you want and get yourself killed in the process. You'll probably get more attention than random farmer's body lying at the side of the road. Farang do get noticed more, dead or alive. Life is indeed cheap in Thailand, even foreigner's life if he/she choose to.
