I can't seem to find it but there was a post (not sure if it was this group) but someone who applied for a Thai Elite Visa said that he/she was not allowed to apply for Elite because the ED visa they had before was from a school that was not officially recognised. I can't remember the official term for it but if you want to apply for Elite in the future, make sure your ED visa is an officially recognised school. If any of the group experts want to correct me or clarify, I'd be happy to know more also.
day visa exempt situation - is it so that I (Canada/EU dual citizen) can enter with visa exempt for 30 (or 45?) days, and then I can get one 30-day extension? My girlfriend is Indonesian and she would like to do the same. Getting a Tourist visa (60 days) is not possible since we're not near an Embassy. Sorry to ask you directly, but I think it's best to go straight to the expert :)
That just happened to me in Indonesia. I came from Dubai, where I took 2 PCR tests in the week prior to flying (last one 48 hours before departure), both negative, then positive at the airport in Indonesia. It's important to be aware if the country you're going to has tougher PCR tests. Indonesia, for example, was using CT levels of 40, which is higher than many other countries (they just yesterday dropped it to 35). I don't know what it was in Dubai, but the PCR test there was quite lax, they just put one swab up one nostril for half a second. In Indonesia, they do both nostrils + mouth/throat, for 2-3 seconds. It's also possible that I caught it on the airplane, as I took 2 flights, connecting through Sri Lanka.
I don't know, but I will go back today with the documents and give it a try. I made a 14-day hotel reservation which can be cancelled (if they reject my extension).
I went to the immigration office yesterday to ask what's needed and they gave a paper with the following: (1) TM7 application form (can get it from immigration); (2) one photograph; (3) copy of passport; (4) letter from Embassy; (5) 1900 THB; (6) proof of address (hotel booking or rental agreement or copy of your own house deed). Canadian Embassy wrote me an email that they don't provide the letter but I can take the email to immigration and they'll give me the extension (or so people have told me in another group).
true, I haven't lived there since 1997 (Europe 1997-2019) but the only reason to go would be to visit my parents and because my time is up in Thailand (unless I get the extension).
