@Kimberly *******
the banks want to see long term lease, Letter of Residence from immigration which is based on TM30 and addressed to the bank and a long term visa in your passport. I was opening a Kasikorn bank account in Bangkok. I already had BKK bank account from before which i opened through an agent in Jomtien for 5000 baht.

hope you received a reply …. I was rejected at 2 Kasikorn branches with just about every paper one could possibly ask … 3 rd time Lucky (as closing time was near and I assume they just wanted to get on with it instead of combing through my annual lease whether each page has been initialled and whether the TM30 printed and stamped by local Immigration office had surname first and then first name).

…. Subject to the Exchange Rate they use. Both must be considered: Fees and Exchange rate used.

I never had problems with Wise … good exchange rate, low fees, they tell you exact time it would reach the BKK bank account … marked as “international TRX” ….

do tell us more: how, which bank and required documents. A lot of people would benefit from your reassured reply above.

one gets non-O for 3 months, opens a bank account within a month, seasons 800k for 2 and extend the visa for a 1year at the end of the 3 months Non-O validity.

No Thai bank will open a bank account with Visa On Arrival / Exempt Tourist Visa - without help of an agent at aprox 5000 baht. Same for DTV i assume.

Yeah … London Thai embassy is one of the most efficient if not the most efficient in the world. My Non-O experience the same.
