I assume that with multiple entry non o - leaving Thailand for a month or so....no re-entry permit from immigration required and new 90 day count starts on re - entering the country.

Further to the above can confirm its quite straightforward - saw people being turned back on 21 October mostly tourist visas. Docs in order and for non o based on marriage should be easy. I wasn't grilled or asked any specific questions.

Thanks Dennis for your advice. What I'd really like to know is will the ATM machines in Laos accept the card. For example with Maybank in Malaysia one needs to "activate" the card for overseas use at a local ATM this is the case with both credit cards and ordinary savings account cards.

I think things went south for South Africans after the post apartheid "honeymoon celebration" period ended. A number of countries that relaxed visa restrictions for SA passport holders tightened up again.
