Any advice on using a Bangkok bank card in an ATM in Laos? Is it possible - does one have to "activate" it beforehand, if so can this be done at an ATM machine in Thailand or does one need to visit a bank. Planning on traveling and may need to draw or pay with my card.

Much appreciated in advance.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires whether a Bangkok bank card can be used at ATMs in Laos and if any activation is required beforehand. One commenter shares their positive experience using Thai bank cards in various countries, suggesting it should work in Laos as well, while another seeks clarification regarding the specific activation process required for overseas use, similar to policies from other banks.

Thanks Dennis for your advice. What I'd really like to know is will the ATM machines in Laos accept the card. For example with Maybank in Malaysia one needs to "activate" the card for overseas use at a local ATM this is the case with both credit cards and ordinary savings account cards.

I've used my Thai bank cards (KrungThai & KBank) at ATMs in Australia, Indonesia and Solomon Islands without any problems, so I would think you would have no trouble in Laos.
