TLDR : Answer Summary
Recent travelers have reported that entering Thailand has become significantly easier, with no health checks or paper forms required, and a new visa exemption policy allowing a stay of 45 days effective from October 1st, 2022. Previous discussions reveal confusion about visa durations, with some travelers believing they could stay longer than the previously established 30-day limit. Travelers are encouraged to have return tickets ready as proof of departure, and various experiences regarding the immigration process and customs checks have been shared. Overall, the sentiment is positive about the ease of travel and entry into Thailand post-pandemic.

You can stay for 45 days from most countries but if you extended it's only for 30 more days. For a total of 75 days. Since I want to stay for 90 days I'll still need my 60 day Visa and a 30 day's extension

what if you stay for 45 days for free then travel to a bordering country and then get a tourist visa there, stamp in for 60 days, then extend for 30 days giving you that extra time to spend in thailand?

or maybe if you have a flight out after your 45 days they'll except that. Not sure so check with airline if that's what you want to do.

check into your return flight though. The airline might give to a hard time cause you don't have your Visa yet when you fly out.

living here long time I know that what are the rules are usually ignored and yes I haven’t worn a mask anywhere since the edict was published in the Royal Gazette but tourists tend to be caught out and not have the courage or the language skills to argue with an over zealous policeman who sees a vulnerable falang!! I merely pointed out the rules so people are aware.

not true. All around Asia wearing masks is more commonplace than in the West, beyond what is required, but it's not compulsory. I've been flying, walking around and taking public transport in Thailand for the past 10 days all without mask and no one's ever said a thing. I'm writing this while seated on a plane about to take off, without mask.

I didn't have a return flight and Thai immigration didn't check

I also confirm it took me 20 minutes from flight to taxi, entry procedure was really quick

Pro tip: In case airline staff at your departure location is overzealous and asks proof of the exit trip, have a web page ready to buy a Hatyay to Penang bus ride ($10), e.g.

That was my backup plan
