TLDR : Answer Summary
Recent travelers have reported that entering Thailand has become significantly easier, with no health checks or paper forms required, and a new visa exemption policy allowing a stay of 45 days effective from October 1st, 2022. Previous discussions reveal confusion about visa durations, with some travelers believing they could stay longer than the previously established 30-day limit. Travelers are encouraged to have return tickets ready as proof of departure, and various experiences regarding the immigration process and customs checks have been shared. Overall, the sentiment is positive about the ease of travel and entry into Thailand post-pandemic.

dont think usa else airline as vaxx papersā€¦ about time thai drop daft vaxx policyā€¦ here in mid TN maybe 1 in 1000 even bother to mask up

@Otis *****
I thought they dropped the whole vaccination thing

You can stay for 45 days from most countries but if you extended it's only for 30 more days. For a total of 75 days. Since I want to stay for 90 days I'll still need my 60 day Visa and a 30 day's extension
Matt *******
@Mike *******
what if you stay for 45 days for free then travel to a bordering country and then get a tourist visa there, stamp in for 60 days, then extend for 30 days giving you that extra time to spend in thailand?
Mike ********
@Matt ******
or maybe if you have a flight out after your 45 days they'll except that. Not sure so check with airline if that's what you want to do.
Mike ********
@Matt ******
check into your return flight though. The airline might give to a hard time cause you don't have your Visa yet when you fly out.
Mike ********
@Matt ******
I think that will work also and it gives you 135 days plus the day's you stay abroad.

interesting. The announcement on train says otherwise. But this is Thailand
Nick ****************
@Bob ******
living here long time I know that what are the rules are usually ignored and yes I havenā€™t worn a mask anywhere since the edict was published in the Royal Gazette but tourists tend to be caught out and not have the courage or the language skills to argue with an over zealous policeman who sees a vulnerable falang!! I merely pointed out the rules so people are aware.

@Nick ***************
No, it is not!
Lorenzo ***********
@Nick ***************
not true. All around Asia wearing masks is more commonplace than in the West, beyond what is required, but it's not compulsory. I've been flying, walking around and taking public transport in Thailand for the past 10 days all without mask and no one's ever said a thing. I'm writing this while seated on a plane about to take off, without mask.

i gave the specific differences between visa exempt and having a visa. What was wrong. Can you articulate in an intelligent grammatically correct sentence?
Paul *********
Yeah & I told you that in May when I went to bkk & kalasin it was 45 days as it was stated to me

by Jetstar staff & it was like you didnā€™t believe me or the others so I think I had every right to have my little rant , apologies for what I said but I was just stating a fact that happened back in may
Zap **********
@Paul ********
look at your passport stamp from May. Bet it was 30 days? Definitely did not change to 45 until Oct 1.
Paul *********
Yes
@Mich****
I had 30 days stamped only because thatā€™s what I booked for not knowing that I could of had 45 days stamped if I knew & if I booked my holiday for 45 days , anyway Iā€™m not here to argue with anyone I just know what was said to me at Tullamarine airport by Jetstar airlines in May
Paul *********
sorry the 3 of you are wrong I went to Thailand in May this year I went for 30 days not knowing it was 45 days cause at the Jetstar counter they said to me that the new stay is now 45 days gone up from 30 & I said thanks very much for that information Iā€™ll go next time for 45 days
James *****
@Paul ********
wasn't it that some countries got 30 days and some countries got 45 days in the past up till October 1st?
Paul *********
@Ja***
u might be right there all I know I was told in may at the airport I could of had 45 days
James *****
@Paul ********
what country passport do you have?
Paul *********
I just saw the website yes itā€™s says from Oct 1 but I can guarantee you I was told at the airport at Tullamarine airport in Australia by Jetstar staff that is now 45 days not the 30 coz when checking my dates they said your doing 30 days I said yes & there reply back was that it is now 45 days not 30 & I said thanks for that Iā€™ll do that next time
Jo **********
@Paul ********
your wrong on 2 things!is not Visa Stay - your not getting a visa you visa exempt. The 45 days is from October 1 so itā€™s brand new.
Jo **********
Phil Jones there is a big difference sorry you donā€™t understand that. itā€™s this simple you can stay 45 days in Thailand without a visa

thatā€™s great news, did you come with a return ticket?/did they check it?

no questions asked. A guy tried to put his bag on belt for customs inspection they shooā€™d him away
Lorenzo ***********
@Timea **********
I didn't have a return flight and Thai immigration didn't check

I also confirm it took me 20 minutes from flight to taxi, entry procedure was really quick

Pro tip: In case airline staff at your departure location is overzealous and asks proof of the exit trip, have a web page ready to buy a Hatyay to Penang bus ride ($10), e.g.

That was my backup plan
