Its always better to be earlier than later. You may have to sit and wait however its better than being denied bording for bring late.

That is usual for as you application gets sent to another office for final approval. Foe example mine is done in NST and is sent to Songkhla district office for final approval. ( like big brother wanting to check thing again). I just accept it as it has to be done in the province where you live. No additional charge is applied when you get it stamped.

Good question!! I think they like tourists to support the local hotels and businesses around the airport. I find restibg after a 9 hour flight in Bangkok very relaxing prior to heading to my home province the next day. Out bound Internationals its easier to fly the day before the long haul flight as often they leave early morning
