Makes sense. I still visit other countries, but I really like the peace of mind. I prefer to travel on my own terms. Now if only HK would open up again.....

yep its not cheap but it is the easiest way to stay as a tourist long term if you're under 50. I found it worked out cheaper for me to get this visa than all the visa runs I was doing before, when a 6 month tourist visa was available. They might bring that back in again you never know.

the Thailand Elite visa is a long term tourist visa. You buy 5,10 or 20 years. Each stamp on arrival is for one year. You can extend in the country one more year.

It is classified as a tourist visa.

it’s a luxury for sure but I really enjoy the peace of mind.

so did retirees. It was frustrating sure - it took me nearly 8 months by the time I made it back. But at least they let us in. Many countries like Australia had total bans. It’s all subjective I know.

Oh and the changes generally have applied to new members. Existing members keep the terms they joined on.

Not by comparison. There have been very minor changes over the years.

For me it wasn't a cost issue - its the convenience of not having to go through the paperwork each year hoping they wont change the rules.

depends on visa type and age I suppose. I personally took elite before I turned 50 and it’s nice to have the peace of mind knowing that I won’t have to jump through hoops like some of my friends seem to need to each year for their retirement visa renewals.
