Sorry if a bit long winded. Looking for some advice. I’m Australian, over 50 and married to a Thai, although the marriage is not registered here. We have 2 kids, 1/2 Thai, one lives here in Phuket with my wife. I am currently in Phuket.

I was incorrectly led to believe i could get a guardian visa and my child’s school prepared the paperwork, but a guardian visa hangs off the kid’s (Ed, I assume)visa, and since he is a Thai citizen he does not have a visa.

I was then told I need to apply for a Custodian to a Thai Child visa, but on closer inspection the requirements list I was given by Phuket immi says the foreigner must have sole custody of the child. A copy of what I was given is attached as a photo.

1. Does this visa really only work if sole custody? Is there a joint custody equivalent?

2. Given my circumstances (over 50 and married to a Thai) are retirement and married the only options I have (ignoring Elite, Ed and Ltr for now)? And if so which is best/easiest?

I feel exhausted after a long hot day at HKT immi, where they also reminded me I have ‘too many’ stamps in my passport.

Thanks for kind advice. Cheers, KO

Hi guys, sorry if this has been asked but I've found conflicting information online and in groups. I'm currently on a non-immigrant o visa (based on having a Thai child). I am up for yearly renewal in 3 months, this will be the second time renewing. Is there still a requirement to season 400k baht for 2 months or show at least 45k baht coming into my Thai bank account for 12 months?

Some more info: I will be doing the renewal at Phuket immigration, I'm also divorced although I don't think this has any bearing on my visa.

Any info would be highly appreciated 🙏

Hi.... I have been reading and I am looking for current information.

I have been on extensions for non-o child dependency for the last 3 years. This year I could not leave the money in the bank for 3 months. Now I am on a tourist exempt stamp. Can I get a M.E Non - O from Penang or Kota Bharu for this? I do have the 400k to show in a bank statement. I am not married but I have the Kor Lor 11 from the district office (amphoe) to say I am his legai guardian and have joint custody.

I aso read the consulate may only offer a single enter Non-O.

A very worrying time for me...

If anyone could give answers I would be truly grateful.

Hi,

Just wanted to give people an update about the non o dependents extension. I have had this for 1 year and applied for further extension last week. I have all the stated documents that are required as per online and the offices own checklist.

They have refused my extension on the basis that they now want to see my degree, even though I'm applying for the non o dependents extension. They also want it notarized /certified by London and UK Thai embassy in London (as per the requirements for the non b visa in teaching). I am working as a teacher in an int school. They said that because I'm a teacher they want these things.

Plus, they also require the mother of my child to attend imm office in person. We're divorced and I have a court order showing joint custody.

I tried all reasonable explanations. Explained were divorced, court order from family court etc. And that I satisfy their written requirements for the non o dependents extension. The IO said I should spy for the non b if I can't satisfy these new requirements.

Just giving some new info here. I suspect they're just being awkward with me. But just in case they're not, maybe other imm offices may start to do this. So parents of half Thai children, please be aware.
