Hi.... I have been reading and I am looking for current information.

I have been on extensions for non-o child dependency for the last 3 years. This year I could not leave the money in the bank for 3 months. Now I am on a tourist exempt stamp. Can I get a M.E Non - O from Penang or Kota Bharu for this? I do have the 400k to show in a bank statement. I am not married but I have the Kor Lor 11 from the district office (amphoe) to say I am his legai guardian and have joint custody.

I aso read the consulate may only offer a single enter Non-O.

A very worrying time for me...

If anyone could give answers I would be truly grateful.

You can go to either thai consulate in Lao, (Savannakhet or Vientiane) and get a 90 day single entry Non-O visa based on being the father of a half thai child. There are reports that they will want to see your bank book and it needs at least 200K baht in it.

OR

You could go to the thai consulate in Penang and get a year-long, multi-entry Non-O based on raising a half thai child by showing 400K baht or the equivalent in a bank account. There is no seasoning required for this visa. On this visa you'd have to bounce out and back in every 90 days but you could get 15 months of stay out of it (in 90 day increments).

Vientiane and Savannakhet will ONLY issue 90 day single entry BUT Penang will give you a year long, multi-entry Non-O IF you show the 400K baht or the equivalent in a bank account.

I have read that as a first t time applicant there, they may only give me 90 days, even with 400k bank statement.

Does anyone know of this?

So you lost your extension and are now on a single entry 60 day tourist visa stamp?

I needed to spend some of the money ..School fees.

IF they said you needed the money in the account for a period of time why didn't you get a 60 day visit thai family extension to let the money 'season' two months before you applied for your new extension?

I get my multi entry and the same time as extending the 1 year. Correct they are not attached but u apply for both at the same time, firstly the extension and then then the single/multi entry.

umm, extensions sold inside thailand have NO re-entry attached to them. That's because you are already IN thailand..

You'd get a year extension and once that's approved you could buy a re-entry permit (single or multiple).

There is no requirement that the you season the 400K baht for 3 months in the bank to get a year extension based on raising half thai children. In fact there is nothing mentioned at all in the police order about the seasoning of the money for that extension.

What immigration office told you that you needed the funds in the bank account for 3 months before you apply for the year extension?
