Good morning everyone,

I wanted to understand and have clearer ideas if possible.

So 2 days ago on the 15th of this month I landed in Suvanambumi with an international flight, during the process to get to immigration everything was very fast and not many people but when I arrived in front of the agent for the classic check I was put aside and this is where my doubts began.

The agent checks my passport (I have an Italian passport) and sees various forms of extension and re-extension, then he calls his colleague and takes me to another checkpoint and he saw that I have done many extensions and re-extensions per visit family, then asks me to call my wife in an inappropriate way (call your wife, call your wife, call your wife), I point out that I could not open my mouth to make them understand that being a sailor and working on a cruise ship I stay out of the kingdom for 4 months and then return for 2 months, (sometimes 1 and a half months and sometimes for 2 months and something because always depends on the company when it gives me the next assignment but never more than 2 months and a 1 week).

After he spoke to my wife in Thai on the phone he tells me that this time he will let me in but next time NO more and I can be banned for 49 years😏. I know that I could request a NON-O visa based on marriage and I would have all the documents in order but for the work I do it is not really feasible as to get an extension of one year I have to initially stay 3 months without leaving the kingdom when I am at maximum on holiday for 2 months.

So after he stamps entry and I go in.

Perfect then since I had no peace yesterday morning I went to the main immigration in BURIRAM where I live and I explained to the officer what had happened to me, he told me that they CANNOT NOT let me in, that the visa based on marriage It is NOT suitable for me and within 1 year I can request this extension visa to visit family 4 times and I can always have it when I enter the kingdom by plane, I would like to point out that the official in BURIRAM notified me of residence I live in Buriram and it has attached in my passport.

Has anyone had a similar experience?

Who should I listen to?

Better i process this NON-O based in marriage?

And because every officer says different things?

Thanks for your advice.

Cheers.

Yesterday my application for a Non O (based on marriage to a Thai) 1 year extension was refused at CW. It appears that my understanding of the visa extension options was incorrect, however I’m interested to confirm whether this is indeed the case or perhaps did the immigration officer make a mistake.

I’m currently on a 1 year Non B extension which is due to expire in about 2 weeks time. I’m currently still employed but my work contract will expire at the end of June this year, and due to a change in my life plans I won’t be renewing my work contract. As such, I decided to request a 1 year extension based on marriage instead of an extension based on work. My understanding was that it’s possible to request an extension based on a different category to my current extension (Non O instead of Non B) providing that I meet the requirements of the new extension and have all of the required evidence/documents. I seem to remember hearing about other people who have done similar in the past. Anyway, in spite of me having all the required documents listed in the Non O extension check list, the immigration officer wouldn’t accept my application.

The immigration officer advised me to request Non B extension documents from my employer, return to CW and apply for a Non B extension, then at the end of June when my work contract expires I should request documents from my employer to cancel my Non B extension, then return to CW to cancel the extension, then leave Thailand and visit an embassy in a nearby country, obtain a 3 month Non O visa, return to Thailand, and finally towards the end of the 3 month Non O visa I can return to CW again and apply for the 1 year Non O extension using all of the same documents that I already had with me yesterday when I went to CW.

Obviously I’m going to need to do whatever I need to do, but I’m somewhat surprised by the immigration officer’s advice as I’m pretty sure I’ve heard of other people being allowed to apply for extensions based on a different category to their current extension.

Hi everyone,

My Wife (Thai) and I are looking to open a mom and pop restaurant that we run together here in Thailand. It wouldnt be big enough to be able to add additional workers. Can anyone guide me as I am new to this venture here. I know I can own the Restaurant, but I would like us to work together. What options do I have here? Its not very big, only about 6 or 7 tables. Currently I am on a 1 year Non Immigrant Family Based Visa. Any help would be very much appreciated. Thank you all in advance

Hi moderators I have a question from my FB-less friend. Which type of Visa is best for him to apply for. He is married to a Thai woman, has 400,000 but receives a lower pension than the stated requirement. Is the Thai-wife the best solution? Thank you in advance for your for your coming responses.

Good morning. I am coming up to my yearly "O" extension based on marriage. What are the options if my 400k isn't seasoned in time and does this invalidate my continuous 3 years needed for PR applications etc?

Hello all

I'm an American who works and lives in Afghanistan. I have a wife in Thailand, I never had a chance to set up a bank acct because of covid I've been Afghanistan more than a year already. I always traveled as an American tourist no visa. Sometime around summer I should be retiring. Now I won't return to the US right away I'll transit through Dubai. What type of visa should I apply for without the required bank account?

I received my Non- O visa based on marriage in Los Angeles about a month ago. I’m planning on getting a 60 day extension based on visiting Thai family before the 90 day visa expires and then seasoning my 400,000 baht for two months and applying for my 1 year extension based on marriage after the two months. My question- the marriage license I have is issued by the State of Kansas and gas to go through an embassy verification process which includes stamps by the Kansas Secretary of State , The US department I’d State and finally the Thai Embassy in the US. Right now the US department of State is requiring sixty business days to authenticate which won’t meet my timelines for getting the 60 day extension. Is it likely that for the 60 day extension they will accept the certified copy I have or do I have a problem?

Good evening all. I'm thinking about moving to Thailand next year. I have very little knowlage on the different types of visas avaliable, I have only ever been there on 30 day stamps and tourist visas with extentions etc. I have a Thai wife so I'm not sure if that will help obtain a certain type of visa. I'm either going to be there on a 2 months on 2 months off basis or try to seekwork and or open a business out there. I'm sure you can probaly see I'm not exactly sure on what plans are yet but just weighing what options would be the best. Any advice is appreciated.

I'm an British male. I am married to a Thai male (who also holds a British passport).

It is our intention to retire to Thailand in about 4 or 5 years.

Does anyone know if a marriage based visa is accepted based on same-sex marriage with a Thai nstional? I have heard that a "civil partnership" is likely to be introduced to Thailand soon. Is it advisable to wait for that to see how the laws change?
