Good morning. I am coming up to my yearly "O" extension based on marriage. What are the options if my 400k isn't seasoned in time and does this invalidate my continuous 3 years needed for PR applications etc?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The author is nearing their annual extension for a Non-O visa based on marriage but is concerned about the seasoning period for their 400k THB bank requirement, affecting their eligibility for permanent residency (PR). The comments suggest that any break in the annual extension could reset the timeline for PR applications. Several options include applying for a 60-day extension due to COVID-19 or visiting Thai family, or potentially facing issues if the funds aren't properly seasoned. The importance of adhering to the immigration rules for consecutive yearly extensions is highlighted.

IF you don't get UNBROKEN yearly extensions of stay for 3 years you just re-set the clock as far as when you can apply for PR
BUT
I think you'd have to go talk to the people at Counter D in the PR section of Chaengwattana to find out if a covid extension (which is an real extension just based on 'officer discretion'), would reset the clock
IF you need time getting the money seasoned the correct amount before you apply for the year, apply for the 60 day visit thai family extension (at least you're getting an extension for the same reason) and that shouldn't upset the apple cart at all

Remember though you can only get ONE 60 day visit thai family extension per entry; so if you got it already since you've last entered thailand you can't get another one and would have to take the 60 day covid extension.
I'd say right now the last thing on your mind should be "do I reset my 3 year count for PR?" (if it resets it resets and you learned something) I'd be much more concerned with how can I bridge the time to season my funds so I can get my new year extension of stay issued :P :O

In relation to the PR question, an ex neighbour of mine went down this route, and application was rejected because of a 60-day break in the three year qualifying period. As Benjamin has pointed out the criteria (unless it's changed in the last 18 months) required three consecutive annual extensions, so if you take a 60-day extension, the clock on PR will be reset.
I think if they take a 60 day visit family extension they'd be okay on it Because they're getting the extension for the same reason (marriage), BUT only the people in the PR section at the immigration office would really know

Just a quick question. Don't you need a work permit and pay tax for years to apply for PR? Not hijacking your post. Just genuinely wondering

If the 400K THB does not meet the seasoning requirements, you have four options:
1. Get a 60 day extension of stay based on unable to travel due to COVID-19 (last day is May 28)
2. Get a 60 day extension of stay based on visiting Thai family (only allowed once per visa or entry stamp, depending on the immigration office)
3. Get another extension of stay you may qualify for. If you have half-Thai children, you must have 400K THB in a Thai bank account, but *NO* seasoning requirements.
4. Go on overstay (bad bad option).

extension of stay If you have half-Thai children, you must have 400K THB in a Thai bank account, and seasoning requirements. This list just take 1 week ago from Hat Yai immigration
